UK Housing Prices Fall, NY State Manufacturing Slows.

UK housing prices fell 3.2 percent in December compared to November in data released today by Rightmove.co.uk. Rightmove.co.uk is a real estate website that lists 90 percent of the homes for sale in the UK. Contributing to a slowing in the UK housing market were slow seasonal sales(December prices have fallen 3 straight years) and a "HIP effect", home sellers avoiding fees before "Home Information Packs" legislation took effect on Dec. 14th.

New York State manufacturing activity declined in December in data released today by the New York Fed. The Empire State Manufacturing Survey showed that the general business index in New York dropped 17 points to 10.3 from November to December. The new orders index fell 10 points, the shipments index declined 11 points and the unfilled orders index fell 9 points. The survey showed some hope going forward as the indexes for future new orders and shipments remained positive.
